Our boys and girls golf teams were represented at TAPPS District on Monday, April 24, 2023, at Lakecliff Golf Club in Spicewood, Texas.
Five boys represented the Crusaders as a team, and two girls competed as individuals in the meet.
Congratulations to both Caroline White (‘23) and Rin Courtney (‘23) for qualifying in the TAPPS Regionals in the girls’ division, both finishing in the top 10. White qualified while finishing 9th place, while Courtney finished 6th place – both rose to the challenge of making it to regionals.
The boys team finished in a tie for 3rd place and fell short of qualifying, as only the top two teams qualified for regionals. Harrison Knight (‘25), Beau Buehrle (‘24), Calvert Layne (‘25), Josh Thar (‘23), and Nicholas Shilling (‘25) competed against a talented field.
While the boys team did not qualify for regionals, two individuals will advance to regionals – Buehrle and Layn. Layne posted another steady tournament round, finishing in 7th place overall with a 77 (+6) score. Knight and Buehrle ended the day in a 3-way tie for the final qualifying spot. The playoff lasted three holes, with Buehrle making a birdie to clinch his place in regionals next week – Knight is the first alternate.
The 2023 TAPPS Regional Tournament will be held at Mansfield National Golf Club in Mansfield, Texas, on Tuesday, May 2.
