SMCA Hosts District Track Meet
SMCA hosted the TAPPS 5A District 3 Championships on Tuesday, April 9th. On a day that started with rainy and overcast skies and ended with a 1-hour lightning delay, St. Michael's was able to bring out some sunny performances to secure berths in the upcoming TAPPS Regionals – both the boys and girls teams finished in second place. With first and second place finishers in each event qualifying for regionals, regional qualifying berths were earned by the following individual athletes and relay teams:

Boys Regional Qualifiers
William Talbot (’25) – 110M Hurdles; Andres Patino (’26) – 300M Hurdles; Ethan Dang (’25) – Long Jump; Max Pahlke (’24) – High Jump; Miller Bohnsack (‘25) – Shot Put; Justin Thar (’27) – Pole Vault; Cole Nguyen (’25) – Pole Vault; 4x200 Relay (Hodapp, Dang, Ogden, Kovacs); and 4x400 Relay (Hodapp, Ogden, Barkley, Dang). Each relay will also include alternates.

Girls Regional Qualifiers
Lucy Lamy (‘26) – 1600M; Claire Lawler (’24) – 100M Hurdles, 300M Hurdles and Pole Vault; Ruthie Zboril (’27) – 300M Hurdles, Triple Jump, and Pole Vault; Kyra Lorenz (’25) – Long Jump; Mia Kropewnicki (’26) – High Jump and Discus; 4x100M relay (Nanez, Lorenz, Hernandez Olvera, Koberg); 4x200 (Lorenz, Koberg, Kadenacy, Kalsu); 4x400 (Lorenz, Koberg, Kadenacy, Kalsu). Each relay will also include alternates.


Outstanding event performances were recorded by the trio of boys 800M runners, Jake Broxterman, Gabriel Aguilar, and Jack Queralt, who finished 3rd, 4th, and 5th, respectively, with each athlete recording a personal record (PR) by over 4 seconds. Similarly, the trio of 100M Hurdles runners of Wiliam Talbot, Max Pahlke, and Nico Anderson also finished 1st, 3rd, and 5th, each recording a PR. For the girls, the 100M, 200M, 800M, and 100 Hurdles each had 2 athletes recording PRs. Notable among those were Frida Hernandez Olvera with a whopping 1.57s PR in the 100M and Riley Owen with a 5.3s PR in the 800M.
